the wedding of jeanne and paul
Today it was Jeanne and Paul’s turn to be Mr. and Mrs. This one was especially fun for us as we got to be in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton which was our daughter, Tara’s church for her wedding last September. We hadn’t been there since so it was a little emotional rehashing “our” day too. Jeanne lives in a beautiful home in Sag Harbor. We met her there getting her makeup and hair done.

Things got a little off schedule with timing and all, but we took it in stride and got all the required “shots” accomplished. I didn’t want to miss any of them as their property was spectacular for photographs, with perennial borders and arbors galore, not to mention a fantastic porch on the front of their house.

It fit perfectly with Jeanne’s country themed wedding. Her dress was a beautiful, light silk confection that just fell about her body like it was custom made for her. The matching veil was encrusted with pearls and crystals that shone in the sunlight whenever she moved. Breathtaking!

This has been quite the year for wedding parties and their’s was no exception with 13 girls if you include the two flower girls, one maid of honor, one matron of honor and nine bridesmaids, whew! They looked equally gorgeous in mint green silk chiffon gowns. Not to be outdone, the groomsmen and best man were equally handsome in their black tuxes and cream silk vests. Today was a hot day with not a cloud in the sky. Being that Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church is so old, it is not air conditioned, so that made for one hot ceremony. I was told by Bill of Wildrose Video, our videographer as well, that our day was equally as hot, LOL, although I don’t quite remember it being so. Maybe when you are working vs. being a guest, it’s a little different, LOL. Anyway, Fr. Jeff gave a touching ceremony.

Then it was off to Cooper’s Beach which was packed with beachcombers.

But they all clapped and cheered as the happy couple followed us down to the water. The wedding party, specifically the guys, ribbed me about certain poses and kneeling, which is par for the course. I am tough skinned, so I don’t let them get to me.

Then when all the shots were taken we bid goodbye to the crowds, grabbed an ice cream bar from the concession and headed out to the Bourne Mansion in Oakdale for a fabulous affair.

Each room was set with candles and photos of loved ones framed and set about the many mantels. On the front table as you entered the mansion, was a wonderful centerpiece filled with pink and cream roses, hydrangeas, and ivy and underneath it sat goblets of strawberry infused champagne.

The same table later in the evening was turned around to now hold a goodbye treat of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in cellophane with a pretty green tag and ribbon. They were a huge hit with guests as we photographed the bags as people took them home.

The night was danced away by the sounds of Timepiece, their band. One of the members of Timepiece, John, was also one of our grooms and it’s always nice to see him and listen to their great sounds.

A special highlight of the night was a spotlight dance dedicated to Paul’s grandparents, Myra and Henry, who were married 60 some art years and are still romancing and going strong. We loved chatting with Henry about his family who came from Abruzzo in Italy and their history with the opera and his fabulous stories, which also happened to be Jeanne and Paul’s honeymoon destination, Italy.

They are going to be touring Rome, Venice, Florence, Sienna, and Lake Cuomo which should promise to be a trip of a lifetime. (Hey, if you see George Clooney, one could wish, right, at his home on Lake Cuomo, say hi from me, LOL).
